Your morning routine might be always the same – wake up, wash your face and brush your teeth, moisturize, repeat the next day. With the colder temperatures approaching and the beauty of fall unveiling itself, your skin feels a little out of sync.

The weather is changing and your skincare routine needs to change as well to accommodate the changing temperatures. At International Beauty Institute, our comprehensive Advanced Skin Care Specialist Diploma will teach you how to take care of your skin while giving you the valuable skills to further pass that information to your future clients.

Why does your skin change in the fall?

You know how you step outside and you immediately know it’s fall? That’s when you know you have to change up your skincare routine to keep looking the fabulous self that you are. While you may still be in summer vacay mode, your skin has moved on and it needs immediate tending to. In the summer, you get that dewey radiant skin due to the amount of moisture in the air. When the weather drops, so does the humidity, leaving your skin dry and flaky. Not to worry, we have some simple ways to ensure that you have glowing skin all year long!

  1. Exfoliating is the name of the game. Even if you are the most loyal sun-lover that hasn’t had dry skin in your life, it’s time to integrate the art of exfoliating. Exfoliating in the cooler temperatures can actually give your skin a breath of fresh air and helps get rid of flaky skin that accumulates throughout the day. Simply wash your face with a gentle exfoliator for two to three minutes, not forgetting about the lips of course, and you will have supple and youthful skin year-round!
  2. Invest in hydrating masks. Even if you religiously apply moisturizer, drink 4 litres of water a day and wash your face regularly, your skin will need an extra layer of hydration to keep looking great. Hydrating masks can give your skin that extra boost, while nourishing your skin’s surface with vitamins and minerals. Not to mention, they also smell amazing! Opt for a hydrating mask twice a week, and you’re set for fall!
  3. Drink more water. See better skin results. The tale as old as time that drinking enough water can cure 99% of problems is true. It’s time to step up your water-drinking game especially in the fall to ensure that your skin stays hydrated and youthful. Aim for 4L a day and you’re golden!
