Your Education Savings Could Help You Train for a Career in Beauty and Medical Aesthetics

Do you have money saved in a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)? Those funds may be able to help you pay for eligible post-secondary career training at International Beauty Institute (IBI). IBI offers diploma programs at campuses in Mississauga/Etobicoke, Toronto/North York, Hamilton, and Vaughan, with flexible learning options, experienced instructors, and practical training focused on today’s beauty and aesthetics industry. If you’re ready to turn your interest in beauty, skincare, and aesthetics into professional skills, IBI offers career-focused training designed to help you prepare for the beauty and medical aesthetics industry.

What Is an RESP?

A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) is an education savings account designed to help save for a beneficiary’s post-secondary education. When an eligible student attends a qualifying post-secondary program, RESP funds may be available to help finance their education.

RESPs aren’t necessarily limited to traditional universities. According to the Government of Canada, qualifying post-secondary educational institutions can include universities, colleges, other designated educational institutions, and certain Canadian institutions offering occupational skills training. That means an RESP may be worth exploring even if you’re interested in career-focused education and beauty training rather than a traditional university path.

How Can RESP Funds Help Pay for Your Education?

The Government of Canada allows eligible RESP Educational Assistance Payments to help beneficiaries pursue qualifying post-secondary education. For full-time studies, a qualifying educational program generally must last at least three consecutive weeks and require at least 10 hours of instruction or work per week. Your RESP promoter will typically require proof of enrollment and determines payments according to RESP rules and the terms of your individual plan. If you have RESP savings available, it’s worth finding out whether those funds can help you pursue the career-focused education you want. Rather than assuming your RESP can only be used at a traditional university or college, talk with your RESP provider to explore your options.

Can You Use RESP Funds for Beauty School?

Depending on the program and your individual eligibility, yes! At International Beauty Institute, RESP funds can be applied toward any of our certificate and diploma programs

Because individual RESP circumstances can vary, prospective students should speak with their RESP provider to confirm eligibility and understand how their funds may apply. IBI’s Admissions advisors are also available to help prospective students like you explore how you can use your RESP funding towards your education and training at IBI, as well as help you understand other financial assistance options.

Put Your RESP Toward Your Future at IBI!

If an RESP was created to help fund your education, now could be the time to put those savings toward your future. With career-focused diploma programs, hands-on training, and flexible learning options, International Beauty Institute offers a focused path toward developing professional beauty and medical aesthetics skills. You may be able to use your RESP funding for eligible training at IBI, so if you’re ready to explore a career in beauty or medical aesthetics, now is the time to speak to IBI’s Admissions advisors to learn more about IBI’s programs and whether your RESP can help you get started.

Turn Your Education Savings Into Career Training

If you already know you want to pursue a career in beauty, skincare, or medical aesthetics, focused career training allows you to concentrate on developing skills directly related to the industry you want to enter. At International Beauty Institute, students just like you learn from experienced instructors, train with advanced technologies and professional products, and develop practical skills through hands-on experience. IBI also offers small class sizes and flexible schedules, including hybrid, full-time, and part-time options depending on the program. Your RESP was created to help fund your education – find out how you can put it toward training for the beauty and aesthetics career you want!
